2013 Hyundai Genesis Sedan

The 2013 Genesis Sedan - Not all works of art are parked in museums.

Genesis Sedan

Several redesigned visual elements including the front grille, bumpers, headlights and tail lights give the 2013 Genesis a more authoritative presence on the road. Creating a flowing design that is progressive yet timeless. Powerful yet elegant.

Knocking pricier premium cars off of their pedestals. Upon its introduction, the Genesis won the 2009 North American Car of the Year. Here’s an update. Genesis was ranked the “Most Dependable Midsize Premium Car” in the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Vehicle Dependability Study.

Top of the line performance.

Class-leading and award-winning 3.8L V6, 4.6L and 5.0L engines provide Genesis with remarkable power, efficiency and something to brag about. Such as the all-new 8-speed automatic transmission that isn’t available in other luxury models like the Mercedes-Benz E550 or Infiniti M.

Two award-winning V8 engines.

In addition to the impressive Tau® 4.6L V8, the 2012 Genesis is available with a new 5.0L high-performance Tau V8 that generates 429 hp and 376 lb.-ft. of torque. This design features Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) for more power, increased fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Industry acclaim for this new V8 has been as swift as the acceleration it creates; like the 4.6L in 2009 and 2010, the 5.0L is a winner of Ward’s 10 Best Engines for 2011.

8-speed automatic transmission.

In just a few years, Genesis engines have received awards and acclaim for their design, power and sophistication. And now these engines are matched with a new 8-speed SHIFTRONIC® automatic transmission that handles every driving situation with unobtrusive ease.

The Genesis 5.0 R-Spec.

For this new model, we started with the award-winning 5.0L Tau V8, then added a sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch premium machined finish alloy wheels and tires. Distinctive headlights with dark chrome inserts plus R-Spec badging on the exterior of the vehicle and the floor mats complete the transformation.

High-output 3.8L V6.

If having more horsepower than other luxury competitors’ V6 engines appeals to you, then read on. With 333 hp on tap, the Genesis 3.8L V6 offers plenty of power for making miles of interstate disappear or passing on two-lane roads. Once again, Gasoline Direct Injection is at the heart of this engine’s ability to generate smooth, efficient acceleration.

Powerful choices.

The 2012 Genesis offers an impressive range of trim level powertrains that include the 3.8L V6 with 333 hp, the 4.6L DOHC V8 with 385 hp and the 5.0L DOHC V8 with 429 hp. Both the 4.6 and 5.0 have all of the features of the 3.8, plus Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS), chrome lower-body side moldings, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, illuminated door sills and a woodgrain-trimmed leather steering wheel.

Calm at the center of the commute.

The supremely comfortable and voluminous space inside the Genesis sedan is what makes people look for reasons to take their car, take the scenic route or even enjoy the drive to work, regardless of the traffic.

Quiet zone.

The sound of the 3.8L V6 engine has been muted by a maintenance-free, steel silent timing chain. Sound-dampening innovations like these make for a quieter cabin. Perhaps we should make some noise for our team of accomplished acoustic engineers.

Premium seating.

Comfort that transcends the journey and helps you arrive refreshed starts with the available heated and cooled driver seat and heated front and rear passenger seats.

All things audio.

And for those times when quiet just won’t cut it, the Genesis gives you options. Power-up the exclusive 528-watt Lexicon® 7.1 Discrete Surround Sound Audio System with 17 speakers and experience the most sophisticated audio system in the Genesis’s class. Connecting music sources to the audio system is a snap with standard iPod/USB and auxiliary input jacks and a power outlet located in the center console box.

Two ways to navigate.

Two navigation systems feature either a 7-inch touchscreen or a Multimedia Controller and Driver Information System (DIS) with an 8-inch display. Both systems have a text-to-speech feature, SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio with NavTraffic and display images from the rearview camera when backing up.

Hands-free calling.

A Bluetooth® hands-free phone system is standard for conversations with the world beyond the acoustic-laminated windows of the Genesis.

HID Xenon headlights.

The exceptional quality of the HID Xenon headlights is an innovation you have to see to believe. And as you add passengers and luggage to the Genesis, the headlights automatically adjust so that the illumination remains parallel to the road surface.
