2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

The New 2013 Genesis Coupe - Inspired By Enthusiasts.

Azera

The challenge was simple, if daunting: Design and build a new generation of authentic sport coupes for driving enthusiasts. Then, test rigorously and review critically so they’re capable of outperforming a slew of high- performance peers.

We’ll start with the obvious: It’s fast. And its design does nothing to dispel this idea. A more aggressively sculpted front fascia and hood generate attention and high-speed stability. The signature drop-beltline rear windows allow for better over-the-shoulder visibility for the driver. While the dual exhaust and new LED tail lights create an impressive appearance and a sound that says, buh bye.

POWERFUL OPTIONS

The 2.0-liter engine with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing now gets added boost from a twin-scroll turbocharger and a larger intercooler. The result is 274 hp. This 30 percent increase in horsepower balances everyday driving efficiency with generous low-RPM torque. And the 2.0T runs on regular unleaded fuel.

The 3.8-liter V6 features Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) and Dual Continu ously Variable Valve Timing, which create both low-end torque and high-end power. The V6 engine has a high-performance intake and exhaust system, for more power at all engine speeds, a responsive free- revving character and a throaty rumble. Best of all, its peak performance is now a beefy 348 hp.

TRANSMISSIONS: 8-speeds and more

An all-new 8-speed electronic automatic transmission, with lock-up torque converter, SHIFTRONIC® and paddle shifters, is available on both the 2.0 and 3.8 Genesis Coupe models. This gearbox features a manual mode that enables more aggressive shift points along with a final gear ratio that allows for efficient highway cruising (if you’re into that sort of thing). A close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission is standard on the 2.0 and 3.8 Genesis Coupe.

SOLID FUNDAMENTALS

With its responsive rear-wheel drive design, the Genesis Coupe has performance in its DNA. Add the ultra-rigid unibody chassis, track-tuned suspension, Torsen® limited-slip differential, 19-inch Euroflange dark graphite-finish alloy wheels and Brembo® braking system, and there’s no doubt this is a purpose-built sport coupe.

CORE STRENGTH

With its 5-star crash ratings from the NHTSA, the safety benefits of the Genesis Coupe's unibody construction are well documented, but its effect on handling and dynamic response cannot be overstated. A strong, steel chassis gives the suspension a stable platform to help keep you in contact with the road for more responsive control, and simultaneously dampens unpleasant vibrations that would otherwise resonate through the cabin.

PERFORMANCE SUSPENSION

Azera

We scrutinized some of the world’s finest coupes before developing our sport-tuned and track-tuned suspension calibrations. All models feature dual-pivot front struts for more precise steering, and a 5-link rear suspension for optimal grip over uneven road surfaces and during extreme lateral loads. Plus, gas-pressurized shock absorbers assure firm, consistent control even during spirited driving.

TUNING HEAVEN

The Track and R-Spec models feature track-tuned spring, damper and stabilizer bar settings that satisfy the most demanding enthusiast. Available camber adjustment bolts lets drivers make additional suspension tuning changes. Track and R-Spec models also feature higher performance Brembo brakes, a Torsen limited-slip differential for better control and acceleration out of tight corners, and sticky, staggered fitment performance tires on 19-inch Euroflange dark graphite-finish alloy wheels.

NOW, SPORT COUPE ENTHUSIASTS DON’T HAVE TO BE CONTORTIONISTS.

Take a seat. The first thing you’ll notice, you’re not cramped. A well-mapped-out driver cockpit tunes out distractions, and generous sport seat bolsters and a sport shift knob feel like they were made for you. Standard Bluetooth®, an updated leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls, available auto-dimming rearview mirror and Blue Link® aren't just luxuries —they help you stay focused on the road ahead.

DRIVING MUSIC

The standard stereo is anything but. The AM/FM/CD player with SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio comes with iPod®, USB and auxiliary input jacks. Steering-wheel-mounted audio controls let you change the station or track without taking your hands off the wheel, and the controls on the display are intuitive and within easy reach. The display is high on the instrument panel to reduce driving distraction. The optional, premium, 360-watt Infinity® audio system includes HD Radio Technology, 10 speakers, external amplifier and subwoofer for clean, punchy sound.

ROOM TO TRAVEL

Typically, sport coupes sacrifice interior space for performance. Genesis Coupe bucks tradition with plenty of head and shoulder room for passengers, and 10 cubic feet of cargo space ensures you’ll never have to decide between the snowboards or your friend’s luggage.

BLUE LINK®: ADVANCED IN-CAR TECHNOLOGY

The Genesis Coupe is transformed by the amazing convenience and capability of Blue Link. Designed to let you navigate, discover and connect on the go, this available feature is packed with technology that offers big benefits including: Automatic Collision Notification and Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Points of Interest Web Search and Voice Text Messaging—just to name a few.

DRIVER DETAILS

From the vantage point of the Coupe’s driver seat, there is much to see. The available navigation system, with its 7-inch touchscreen, acts as a one-stop command-and-control center, sharing space on the center stack with a multi-gauge instrument panel. The instrument cluster has electroluminescent gauges that are spot-on accurate and easy on the eyes. Attractive premium stitching enhances the upper dash. On select models, the power-adjustable lumbar support makes longer seat times pass as quickly as the miles.
